There are an infinite number of surface techniques for ceramics. For most people, this gets overwhelming. Join me this Fall and learn techniques that develop your understanding of underglazes, slip and dimensional slip for textured effects. We will explore a variety of subjects: color, texture, sgrafitto, pattern and storytelling among others.
Each week students will be introduced to a new surface technique. Students can choose to make pinch pots on which to experiment or any other small objects of their choice. The focus of this class will be the surface treatments, not the construction.
